Expert Note

In May, keep soil evenly moist and feed with a balanced fertilizer every 2–3 weeks for fast growth. Watch for aphids, whiteflies, and spider mites under warm, dry spells; rinse foliage and use insecticidal soap early. Mulch to stabilize moisture.

Seed & Soil

Direct sow and transplant heat-lovers while nights stay warm: Tomato and Bell Pepper for steady summer yields, plus Basil for quick harvests. Add Zucchini and Cucumber to capitalize on warm soil and space them for airflow.

The Harvest

Start picking regularly from Tomato and Bell Pepper as they ripen to keep plants producing. Harvest Cucumber and Zucchini every 1–2 days for best texture, and snip Basil often to prevent flowering and extend leaf production.
